ASAKA A5 Flying Mode
The Silicon Valley-based company is showcasing the ASKA A5, an electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing (eVTOL) vehicle the size of an SUV capable of driving on the road and flying up to 250 miles on a single charge.
ASKA is announcing ASKA On-Demand ride service that will be powered by a fleet of A5 vehicles. The company is targeting major cities to offer its affordable On-Demand ride service by 2026, relying on a team of certified pilots.

“ASKA is positioned as a new generation vehicle that combines the convenience of an automobile with the ease and efficiency of VTOL and STOL flight. ASKA is a vehicle that addresses not only consumers, there is also significant business potential in emergency response use, military use, as well as on-demand ride-sharing mobility services,” said Guy Kaplinsky, CoFounder/CEO.
Powered by ASKA’s proprietary power system featuring lithium-ion batteries and an engine that acts as a range extender, the A5 is equipped with retractable wings to easily switch between car and aircraft modes.
The vehicle’s body is made of advanced metal materials combined with a carbon fiber structure for certified safety and strength.
According to the company, “wings and arms are equipped with necessary directional stiffness which can contain deflections and dimensional stability required by the control system”.
ASKA’s in-wheel motor technology allows the A5 to operate well on the road or in the air. It provides a high driving position, like an SUV, and helps with ground clearance for Short Takeoff and Landing (STOL) mode. In drive mode, the in-wheel motor supports dynamic handling capabilities.

According to the CEO, Christian Pineau, Maca is expected to showcase the Maca S11 prototype at the International Paris Air Show Le Bourget in June 2023.
