As more NFTs are being created and with more people buying them, Twitter has announced that users who are subscribed to their Twitter Blue program can now display their NFTs as their profile pictures.
For those unfamiliar, Twitter Blue is a relatively new subscription service launched by Twitter last year. The main difference is that Twitter Blue will unlock additional features that regular, free Twitter users will not be able to access, and using an NFT as a profile picture will be one of the perks that subscribers can look forward to.

What’s interesting about this is that this is one of the features that Facebook and Instagram have been rumored to be working on, but it looks like Twitter has beaten them to the punch. However, the question is what’s stopping someone from saving a picture of the NFT and uploading it to Twitter to use as a profile picture themselves?
According to the video above, users can actually click the NFT to verify who owns it, meaning that users can brag that they are using an actual NFT versus a saved JPG. We’re not sure if Twitter plans to take action against users who upload NFT pictures that they do not own, but it’s definitely an interesting direction that they are headed towards.
