For a while now, OnePlus has been releasing two flagship phones a year. One will be a regular numbered version, like the OnePlus 9 from earlier this year, and the other will be a “T version, like the OnePlus 9T that many expected the company would launch later this year, but that will no longer be happening.
According to an interview with OnePlus CEO Pete Lau, he confirmed that the company will not be launching a “T” series handset this year. This would effectively make it the first time in several years that the company has skipped on a T-series handset, where the first model was actually the OnePlus 3T from 2016.
Lau does not mention why OnePlus will be skipping out on the “T” series this year, but it is a bit disappointing for those who have been looking forward to upgrading their handsets. This means that if you wanted a new OnePlus phone that isn’t the OnePlus 9, then you probably have to wait until 2022 where we will see the OnePlus 10, or whatever the company plans on calling it.
That being said, we have to wonder what this means for the rumored OnePlus 9 RT, but until we hear otherwise, it’s probably safe to assume that this phone will not be happening either.
