According to Young, he claims that Apple could update both tablets where they will both feature the use of OLED screen technology. This would be the same display tech found in other Apple devices like the iPhone and the Apple Watch. Young’s report also cites a post from Korean publication The Elec which states that LG is looking to be the one to supply Apple with the OLED displays.
The report claims that the OLED displays could be powered by LTPO panels which are also being used by the iPhone 13 series. With the use of these panels, it would allow the display to achieve an even greater range when it comes to the refresh rate.
For context, the current iPad Pros refresh rate ranges from 24Hz to 120Hz, versus the iPhone 13 which can go from 10Hz to 120Hz. A lower refresh rate would obviously be less energy consuming, which in turn could allow the tablet to achieve even longer battery life. It is unclear when these refreshed iPad Pros are expected to be launched.
The last time Apple refreshed the iPad Pro was in 2021 where they gave both the 12.9-inch and 11-inch an update that included the use of the M1 chipset.
