ION 3 is a wearable device that delivers up to thousands of scents using cartridges, and the delivery system is synchronized with the content users are viewing in VR, AR, and mobile or desktop computing devices.
Not only users will be able to experience the sense of smell while playing video games or watching movies, but OVR will provide a scent creation tool that enables professionals and amateurs to create digital scents optimized for the digital content they develop.
The metaverse is a hot trend, and recently, we have seen Emotiv, a neurotech headset company, partners with L’Oréal to help consumers select their most desired fragrances. I wonder if the most prestigious perfume brands such as Dior, Guerlain, or Chanel would dare to use OVR Technology’s ION 3 patented suite of tools to create their next-gen fragrances.
Sight and audition are the main senses used during current VR and AR experiences, and at CES 2023, only a few devices delivering the sense of touch were the recipients of CES Innovation Awards in the VR/AR category. Today, olfaction is still a tricky sense to mimic digitally in a wearable small form factor, and besides ION 3, I have to try another wearable scent device at the show: Aromajoin. Yesterday at CES, the Japanese company launched its Aroma Shooter Wearable & Aroma Player products that easily deliver multiple scents over a wearable device while users are watching a related video.
To experience the ION3 CES attendees have to go to the OVR technology booth #51365 in the Tech West-Venetian Expo Hall.
