Google has been in the mobile payments business for some time now. It’s competing against the likes of Samsung Pay and Apple Pay with the aptly named Android Pay service. Chase, one of the largest banks in the United States, held out the longest in supporting Android Pay. An internal memo was leaked late last month suggesting that Chase could start supporting Android Pay on September 7th and that’s precisely what has happened today.
Android Pay is quite like the services that it competes with in the market. Users can add their credit or debit cards to the service and then pay with them on the go without ever having to physically take the card out of their wallet.
Google has updated the official Android Pay website today to reflect that the service is now supported by Chase. The bank itself has launched its own Android Pay page to reiterate the same. There’s a long list of Chase-issued cards that are now compatible with Android Pay. The list is available on the bank’s website.
Android Pay is accepted at merchants who have NFC terminals, it’s not like Samsung Pay which features MST as well, a technology that enables conventional card machines to accept payments from digital services.
