OnePlus Nord 2T Launches With UltraFast Charging

The new OnePlus Nord 2T is the evolution of last year’s OnePlus Nord 2. It is designed to occupy the same ~299 Euros market segment and is essentially a technology refresh to keep the product competitive.

The performance is slightly better, thanks to the MediaTek Dimensity 1300, which has a UFS 3.1 flash storage controller. Users can choose between 8GB or 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage. The 12GB/256GB costs about 100 Euros more.

The Camera system is nearly identical to last year’s, with a 50MP primary camera (Sony IMX766 sensor) with OIS and a secondary 8MP Ultrawide camera. There’s also a 2MP monochrome sensor which is probably used for Bokeh purposes to assist the primary camera.

I like the minimalist design with clean lines and matte colors, and I imagine it’s agreeable to hold in hand. The camera module is cleverly designed and makes the camera seem “more powerful” than it is. That’s excellent visual communication.

The 6.43” AMOLED display supports a 90Hz refresh rate and should offer excellent visual comfort for apps and movies. The phone has a decent value at this price, but there’s ferocious competition in that segment, so you should shop around.

It would be interesting to run some numbers and see what kind of performance/$ camera-score/$ figures comes out.

Last but not least, the 4500mAh battery can be charged at 80W, which makes this phone one of the fastest charging in its segment. It’s unclear if an 80W charger is in the box, but it’s something to check for before purchasing.
