iphone-5s-fingerprint

Earlier today Apple finally sent out the invites for its September 10th iPhone event. One of the smartphones that the company will launch that day is the iPhone 5S, the successor to the current iPhone. It isn’t expected to tout any major design changes, though significant improvements are expected to be made under the hood. Previous rumors have consistently suggested that a fingerprint sensor might be on-board as well, some have even termed it as a cause for iPhone 5S supply constraints at launch. A new purported home button flex cable of the next generation iPhone has surfaced which hints at the possibility of such a sensor being present.

The flex cable seen above contains an identifier, 821-2092-01, which is said to be in line with Apple’s part numbering scheme. It carries a manufacturing date code which corresponds to mid-July. This purported iPhone 5S home button flex cable is said to be quite different from its counterpart on the iPhone 5. A new square surface is visible which might be related to the much rumored fingerprint sensor. This leaked flex cable doesn’t actually confirm the feature for iPhone 5S, but it adds weight to the laundry list of rumors that suggest the same thing. [Image via NoWhereElse]
