With WhatsApp stating that an iPad app is in development, what does this mean for other Facebook-owned businesses like Instagram? Back in 2020, Instagram’s CEO explained why there isn’t an iPad app, and if you were hoping that this would change, especially with WhatsApp coming to the iPad, then we have some bad news.

This is according to Instagram’s CEO Adam Mosseri who pretty much reiterated what he said the previous year. When asked why there isn’t an Instagram app yet for the iPad, Mosseri said, “I spent a bit of a time on an iPad because I was on a flight, but still no iPad app for Instagram. It would be nice to do, but there’s a lot to do and only so many people, so it hasn’t made the cut.”

It sounds like Instagram could be considering an iPad app, but it isn’t a very high priority right now. This is a bit odd since an iPad app has been one of the more requested features. Plus, Instagram has made other changes like allowing users to upload from desktop, so it is clear that mobile isn’t their only focus, so why not a native iPad app, right?

That being said, we don’t know what Instagram’s schedule is like so maybe don’t get your hopes up just yet for an iPad app anytime soon.
