If you’re looking to stream Xbox games to your iOS device through the Microsoft Xbox Game Pass Ultimate service, you’ll be pleased to learn that you will be able to do so in 2021. This is according to Microsoft who has announced their plans to bring their game streaming services to iOS devices in the spring of 2021.
According to Microsoft’s announcement, “In Spring 2021, we will take the next step in our journey to reach more players around the world by making cloud gaming as part of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate available on Windows PCs through the Xbox app and browser, and iOS devices through mobile web browser.”
Microsoft had previously stated that they are looking to bring its xCloud game streaming platform to iOS devices and that they will most likely be going down the Safari route. This is because of the current restrictions in place by Apple in which it makes it a bit difficult and troublesome for companies to launch a game streaming app, so going through Safari is the easiest way.
Microsoft is not alone in heading down this path as NVIDIA has also launched a similar service where GeForce Now subscribers can play their games through Safari. Google is also expected to follow suit for its Stadia service.
