Netflix announced a few months back that it will support HDR content streaming on select Android handsets. The LG G6 was the first device to get support for HDR streaming. Netflix later added a couple of other handsets to the list. It has now been discovered that the Galaxy Note 8 has been added to the list of supported devices.

It’s interesting to note that Netflix is supporting the Galaxy Note 8 for HDR content streaming even though it hasn’t extended the same courtesy to the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ as yet.

Samsung pointed out the Galaxy S8’s Mobile HDR Premium certification during its official event for the handset. It even has a partnership with Amazon Video for HDR content streaming.

Netflix has quietly added the Galaxy Note 8 to its list of supported devices for HDR streaming. It’s the fourth device to get support. Netflix recently added support for the LG V30 and the Xperia XZ1 and XZ Premium from Sony.

There is one caveat. Only Netflix subscribers that are paying for the 4K streaming plan will be able to stream content in HDR. They will also require an internet connection that’s at least 25mbps.

Samsung is going to release the Galaxy Note 8 on September 15th, however, reports suggest that some pre-order customers might end up receiving the units earlier than scheduled.
