Over the years, we’ve seen how handset makers have teamed up with camera brands in a partnership that is supposed to help improve their smartphone cameras. For example there was Nokia’s partnership with Zeiss all those years ago, then Huawei with Leica, and then Vivo with Zeiss.

Some of you might also recall that in 2021, OnePlus announced that they would be teaming up with Hasselblad for something similar. Now it looks like Oppo is hopping on board that train with a three-year partnership with Hasselblad of their own. Keep in mind that Oppo and OnePlus are under the same parent company, BBK Electronics, so we can’t say we’re too surprised here.

However, we have to wonder if this could result in a conflict of interest or if maybe this could be some sort of synergistic partnership. In any case, Oppo and Hasselblad’s partnership is expected to bear fruit with the upcoming new Oppo Find X handset, which could be known as the Find X5.

According to Oppo, “OPPO and Hasselblad will now work together to further develop advanced imaging solutions through R&D collaboration, which aims to provide users with more natural colors and a more refined imaging experience. Leveraging Natural Color Calibration with Hasselblad, OPPO also targets to bring the most natural skin tone possible to its portrait photography.”
