Right now, a good majority of smartphones still rely on a notch or a hole-punch cutout for the front-facing camera. Some see this as being a design “flaw”, and if you’re in that camp and would prefer a seamless full screen experience, then you’re in luck because ZTE has something that might be of interest to you.
The company has announced its latest handset, the ZTE Axon 30. This is a smartphone that ditches the notch and cutout in favor of an under-display front-facing camera. ZTE is boasting that the camera of this phone is the “only phone in the world” with an under-display camera with an area screen that has a pixel density of 400 PPI.
Other specs of the ZTE Axon 3 include a 6.9-inch AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 360Hz touch sampling rate. Under the hood, the phone will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 870G chipset, and it will also come with a 4,200mAh battery, support for 55W fast charging, and an interesting cooling system that uses a VC cooling plate, thermal gel, and graphene copper-based composite materials.
The phone will also be packing a quad camera design with a 64MP Sony IMX682 main sensor, an 8MP ultrawide camera, a 5MP macro camera, and a depth lens. For those who are keen on the handset, the ZTE Axon is priced starting at $340, but right now it seems like it will be exclusive to China.
